Study 3 - Divine Design

1 Corinthians 12:11-13

One Body - The Divine Design!
1 Corinthians 12:12

Now Paul introduces the analogy of the human body and the body of Christ to demonstrate the essential unity that Jesus prayed for in John 17.  In verses 14 and following Paul will bring this home to us with great force.  We will not linger here now, but the table is set, almost.  This would be a good place however to look again at the prayer of Jesus to see the will of our Lord for His people, and therefore for us.

(John 17:20-23)

There is absolutely no question about it!  The Divine Design is that there be unity in His body. The workings of the body and its parts are by His will.  When God acts on His will, He cannot be resisted.  His prayer will be answered.  I've heard it said that if God wants something to happen it will.  When God moves to bring that unity, it is best that we be in agreement with His will and His ways.  That unity will occur with or without our help!  We are the Bride of Christ, and He is returning for a glorious church without spot or wrinkle.  Let's get ready, making sure that we have plenty of oil, with our lamps trimmed and bright!  Jesus is coming!  (Matthew 25:1-13)
