I
Don’t Need Anybody? (I
Corinthians 12:14) It
is really arrogance that would say that I don’t need other Christians.
(Hebrews
10:24,25) David was a worshipper, and he knew that He needed to worship in the house of the Lord with the people of God. He knew better than to isolate. (Psalm 84:1-4) The truth is that the Lord is “looking for worshippers, who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23,24) Attached to The
Vine Jesus
spoke frequently of He being in us and we in Him.
Jesus said, "I am the vine, you are the
branches." (John 15:4-7) If a branch is separated from the
vine, it withers and dies. There is no fruit!
The Lord did not mean for us to have fruitless lives!
(John 15:10) Why are we here, and what is the purpose and meaning
of our lives? Surely there
is great meaning and purpose in being in the place of attachment to the
vine so that we will bear fruit. No
matter who we are, small or great, rich or poor, there will be an
undercurrent of unfulfilled emptiness if we are not walking in the place
of obedience to the will of God. We are all made to drink of one Spirit, as we saw in verse
13. If we are separated
from God’s irrigation system, we will die of thirst.
God has chosen to bring us to the place of love and unity to show
the world that we are His. “By
this will all men know you are my disciples, if you have love for one
another.” (John 14:35) The Big Eye 1
Corinthians 12:21-22 “The eye is the light of the body” (Luke 11:34). But the body needs to do so much more than just see. We need to have ears to hear, but we can hear the truck coming our way, if we don’t have feet we won’t be able to get out of the way. It is totally absurd to think that the body can do without any of its parts. The entire body is reliant and dependent on all of the parts working together in harmony to form the whole. The application to members of the (invisible) church is clear.
There is a tragic and senseless error that has permeated the Body of Christ through the centuries. It is an error that has rejected others in the body, deeming their contributions as not needed, and somehow in the great diversity that is the Body of Christ tried to make us all uniform. The fact is we all need each other, and we are all different. |
