Honor the Least 1
Corinthians 12:23-26 The body consists of vital organs and we can't live without them. We can't see our liver, kidneys, lungs, blood vessels, and bones. If we did see them we might get a little squeamish. But none-the-less, they are there. If we get some sort of cut or abrasion we can treat it with bandages. But if something goes wrong with internal organs, surgery could become necessary.
In this day of super saints, television preachers, and worship stars there is a tendency to worship the leader rather than the Lord of the leader. Many of these men and women who have been exalted in these places are really servants with a heart for God. Some however find that with popularity comes power. Power corrupts and pride comes before a fall. Could it be that God is doing deep surgery on His body even now? "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build
it." The
church on the corner is more vital in many ways to the community than
the mega-ministry. On one
occasion I heard a preacher say something in a sermon to the effect of
"those pastors of those rinky-dink seventy people churches!"
Just because a church boasts a membership of several thousand
does not mean that it's the only church where Jesus "shows
up". It's true that
the church that is not willing to change is willing to die (and I am not
talking about changing the Gospel message and Biblical truth). God
has given us musicians and leaders to prompt us in worship. there is no
question about it. Consider
the drummer for example. What
kind of worship service would we have if there were no one in the
congregation to lift their voices in praise?
God has chosen to be enthroned in places where His name is being
lifted up. Could it
be that God is calling us to lift up His name, even in places of
darkness, so that His name could be glorified and men would be drawn to
Him? Music ministry is in a
real sense a ministry of "helps".
As worship leaders, we are to help the body bring praise to God. |
